The Agenda is now up on the site.

I'll send out another message with a schedule of other events
for speakers and staff at the conference shorlty.... We will
likely be doing a couple of Akihabara tours and some other
activities. I know some folks want to head out to Odaiba and
try a full motion simulation car video game there at Sega
Joyopolis. We'll probably be doing a shopping tour on Saturday
after the conference.

There is also some talk of heading out to the Ice bar too...
We'll work on logistics. Keep wednesday night open
because we'll probably also have some event then. :-)

But for those of you who will be here on Sunday the 25th we are
planning a little party at :

...on Sunday night starting at 8. Please RSVP to secwest07@XXXXXX
if you can make it. The fun part is that on Sundays they have a
mechanical bull, and "cowboy" contest from the patrons.
Drunk people on mechanical bulls are always fun, and
Sono has gotten us a table block with ringside seats for the
sillyness...

I hope you can make it, and you can invite others if you like -
just give us a heads up on the count... I think we made the resevation
for 30 but the restaurant says they seat up to 400 so we can
expand that. The mechanical bull show starts at 9.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all next week.
Hope you all have a safe trip here, and please call us
if you have any questions or need help with anything.
My mobile number again is 090 XXXX XXXX.

cheers,

p.s . for those who havent sent their presentations yet...
Ok it starting to get to the point of no return... Please please please.
Hurry! Send us that material ASAP! I'm not even kidding now.
If you are translating your own stuff you won't need to
worry about it until the conference... I'll be giving you
a memory key to put it on at the conference and we'll
set up an interim web site that we'll tell the attendees
to download the material from instead of giving handouts.
But I know we havent received all the material we need
to translate yet so this is critical now. I'm going to go
check my list as soon as I hit send on this...

"for those who haven't sent their presentations yet"とはまさに自分のことだ。

Hello,

This mail is going out to all of the attendees of PacSec 2006.
I wanted to tell you about the presentations at next week's
PacSec 2007 conference and offer you a 10% discount on
conference attendance as a thank you for your continued
patronage.

You can access the discount alumni registration at:

https://www.pacsec.jp/

Some of the interesting topics at this year's PacSec conference
includes:

-Takumi Onodera talking about Office 0day attacks and demonstrating
real malware caught live. As client side attacks increase in use and
more targeted phishing attacks and Spear-Phishing becomes
a more serious and significant problem, preparing for these
kinds of threats will become much more critical in the future.

-David Watson from the UK will showcase some of the interesting
attacks and threats he has discovered with honeypots distributed
all over the world. His data on fast flux botnets and other tools
the bad guys are using will be very illuminating.

-Hiroshi Kawaguchi will give us new data about attacks against
 Japan specifically.

-Two presentations on Java and Javascript analysis will cover
areas that will be very significant to browser and web based
 application security.

-Fuzzers are becoming an important analysis and test method
to ensure software reliability, so we will have two great
presentations on this area and tools you can use to
 test your products.

-The folks from EADS in France will show some surprising information
about Windows hibernation files and the dangers of going to sleep.

-Traveling all the way from Argentina, the bright folks at Core will
cover some significant new SQL database security techniques.

-The folks from Dave Aitel's Immunity company will give TWO
presentations about low level threats to localized Asian Windows
 variants, and heap attack techniques.

-Loic Duflot will cover some significant new threats to virtualized
environments that are becoming increasingly deployed in server
 many farms. Truly dangerous stuff.

-And on the Linux side, significant new defenses in the form of NTT
Data's TOMOYO linux will be showcased. As most people agree
that SE-Linux is too difficult to deploy, TOMOYO is one of the major
candidates to supplant it for enhacing Linux security.

I hope you can find the time to join us to learn about some of the most
important new areas we will have to look to in the future to secure
our computer and network infrastructure.

This year we are also offering the most comprehensive Dojo training
courses list we have ever put on here in Japan:

Ultimate Web Hacking - Yeng-Min Chen (Japanese)
Reverse Engineering - Yuji Ukai (Japanese)
The Exploit Laboratory - Saumil Shah (English)
Advanced Honeypot Tactics - Thorsten Holz (English)
Advanced Linux Hardening - Andrea Barisani (English)
Bugfinding with the Immunity Debugger - Nicolas Waisman & Kostya
Kortchinski (English)
   Practical 802.11 Wi-Fi (In)Security - Cedric Blancher (English)

I hope to see you there next week.

Thanks,
--dr
