Linux Symposium (OLS) CFP deadline extended to Feb 15th

I wanted to let you know that we are extending the Linux Symposium proposal
submission deadline to Friday, February 15th. I forgot that many of you
would be down-under this week and wouldn't want you to miss any of the fun
there trying to get your proposal in on time.

We also wanted everyone to know that the list of suggested topics in the
Call For Papers is just a list of suggestions to show that we're open to a
wider range of topics this year. We'd love to get more good tutorials and
system administration related proposals to help broaden our appeal to
those who're interested both in the core kernel and in administrations and
the associated applications.

If your project is looking to get together we're also sponsoring a day of
mini-summits before the start of the Symposium. Just email
info@xxxx with your ideas or questions about how this works
and we can help you get started.

This is 10th Linux Symposium and the final one at the Ottawa Congress
Centre for awhile. They're going to be tearing the building to the ground
the year after to re-build it into something more modern.

You have two extra weeks to come up with an abstract. If you have any
questions, concerns or suggestions please fire away, I'm always happy to
hear from you about what you think should be happening.

Feel free to pass this information along to friends and coworkers.

Thank you.

P.S. Now this is almost totally unrelated, but as many of you know I'm an avid mountain climber, and in 2009 I am hoping to go to Alaska to climb Denali (Mt. McKinley) the highest peak in North America. One of my ideas is to do the trip as an overland expedition through northern Canada and stop at various communities and talk to them about Linux and Open Source as part of community building, etc. If anyone knows anyone who might be interested in participating in such an expedition, either as a speaker, a climber, or a sponsor, let me know , Northern Canada and the Native communities are often ignored by mainstream technology development and it would be a great chance to combine education and good will. If you'd like to hear more about the plans drop me a note and I'll keep you informed.
