Message in a Bottle
普段は帰宅が遅いからほとんどテレビを見ない僕だけれど、2,3週前から東芝日常劇場の「夫婦」を見ている。なんだか不思議なドラマだ。毎回最後に田村正和のモノローグがはいるのが良い。それが終わると、ウルルンを見て、情熱大陸を見る*1。今、情熱大陸が映っている。今日はハンドボールの話だ。
テレビはついていても画面をじっと見ていることはあまりなくて、本を読んだり、PCを使っていることが多い。だけれど強く惹きつけられるメロディが流れてきて、何だったっけ？と思ったらMessage in A Bottleだった。すぐにフェードアウトしてしまったけれど、イントロのメロディが強く自分の中の何かを動かす。自分の中にある何かを思い出す感じ。僕は80年代の曲が好きで、テレビのCMでもラジオでも好きな曲がかかると、それに聴き入る。
情熱大陸を見ていると、今さらながら自分は何もできないことを思い知らされる。番組を見ない時でも、そんな自分がもどかしく、さびしく思えることも少なくない。ただ、自分のできることはきちんとやりたいと思っている。こうして毎日他の人にとって意味をなすと思えない文章を書くことの理由は自分にもわからないけれど、書いている間は自分らしいものを書きたいし、少しでも読む人の役に立てば良いと思う。
僕がボトルにつめて流すメッセージはどこに届き、どう読まれるのかな？今、テレビではEvery Breath You Takeが流れている。ちょっとフェードアウトが早すぎるけどね。
